Job Overview

The Physical Therapist I provide physical therapy services including evaluation, treatment and follow up and documentation using general competencies for outpatient children referred to the physical therapy department. Provide supervision for PT aides/assistants and students with specific tasks and/or patients. Provide continuous consultation and education to families. The Physical Therapist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).

The Rehabilitative Medicine Program at Children's Hospital Colorado strives to provide evidence-based, expert care to our patients and their families. Physical therapists in the Neurodevelopmental and Muscle Disorders Program work within a multidisciplinary team of providers to maximize function and participation for infants, children, and young adults impacted by neurodevelopmental disability, genetic conditions, medical disorders, neuro-typical developmental delay, and progressive diseases. Diagnoses include but are not limited to: Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Torticollis, Developmental Delay, Pelvic Health concerns, orthopedic, genetic, or neurological based diagnoses with foot/ankle or gait impairments, and Spinal Defects. Physical therapists in this program are specialists in evaluating impairments, functional limitations and participation restrictions across the lifespan using a variety of methods and interpreting results to develop relevant functional goals in collaboration with their patients and their families. Clinicians are expected to incorporate child and family perspectives, clinical experience and training, and evidence to design comprehensive programs targeted toward achieving patient and family goals. This program places a strong emphasis on the use of outcome measures and incorporation of evidence-based practice in developing the plans of care for each individual patient.

Job Status: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
Shift: Flexible with the option to work 4x10 or 5x8 hour shifts, Monday - Friday between the hours of 7am and 7pm. No holidays or weekends.

Qualifications
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related field of study required. Doctorate in PT preferred.

EXPERIENCE - At least one year of experience as a Physical Therapist in Pediatrics; 2-3 years preferred; PCS preferred. Experience or interest in pelvic health and foot management - training provided on site.

CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR

LICENSURE - State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Physical Therapist license; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

This position has been defined and is governed by the Children's Hospital Colorado Medical Staff bylaws, continuation of employment is contingent upon the review and approval of the Colorado Health Care Professionals Credential Application within 3 months of employment. Failure to successfully pass the credentialing process may result in the termination of your employment. Such positions include: Advanced Practice Providers, licensed professional counselors, or Adjunct Medical Staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

Collaboration- Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. Provides consultation and education to other professionals and families as necessary.
Documentation- Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.
Evaluation/Re-evaluations: Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
Leadership and/or Professionalism- Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital. Provides clinical supervision as needed/when appropriate for physical therapy clinical interns.
Treatment- Treat children across the continuum, with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units and in the community. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $78,659.24 to $117,988.86
