Position description
NATURE AND PURPOSE
Academic Coordinators are appointees who administer academic programs that provide service closely related to the teaching or research mission of the University. This service may be provided to academic departments, to organized research units, to students, or to the general public. Determination of the appropriate level for an appointment for an Academic Coordinator shall take into consideration such factors as program scope and complexity. The duties of an Academic Coordinator are primarily administrative.
Individuals in an Academic Coordinator title who are assigned research or instructional duties are required to hold a dual title. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Director of the UC Davis Agricultural Sustainability Institute, the Projects Coordinator & Program Administrator for the UCD Sustainable Living & Learning Community (SLLC) is responsible for coordinating mutually beneficial, collaborative relationships between SLLC students, staff, and faculty; community partners of the SLLC; UCD campus administration; and the wider community. The SLLC Projects Coordinator & Program Administrator also advances academic programs, teaching, and research across the SLLC and that fit the mission of ASI. I. COORDINATION OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMS (90%)
Academic Coordinators have primary responsibility for the administration and coordination of one or more programs and may have responsibility for directing the activities of other academic appointees or staff.
Types of activities that might be included, but are not limited to, are;
(1) Support students, staff, and faculty in the design and development of emergent and ongoing projects and programs of the SLLC;
(2) Supervise SLLC student fellows and hired student staff, as needed;
(3) Coordinate with the administration of the UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences on human resources, accounting, and development for the SLLC;
(4) Liaise with lead team of the Friends of the SLLC (Green Program) alumni/donor group;
(5) Collaborate with member programs in the maintenance and ongoing development of landscape stewardship plans for shared commons in the SLLC;
(6) Collaborate with member programs in identifying and pursuing grant opportunities to fund new and ongoing initiatives of the SLLC;
(7) Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty; member programs; SLLC alumni; and CAES administration on community events to publicize and showcase the work of the SLLC;
(8) Coordinate with college- and campus-level personnel and offices of planning and facilities management, and third-party partners (including contractors and developers), to implement infrastructure improvements and innovations. II. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND ACTIVITY (5%)
The candidate will provide intellectual leadership and scholarship to their programs. The candidate will participate in professional societies and conferences appropriate to their specific field. The candidate may give oral presentations to public and professional interest groups, or at seminars, meetings or educational functions. III. UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE (5%)
The candidate will participate in the administration of their units and the University through appropriate roles in governance and policy formulation. In addition, they may represent the University in their special capacity as scholars during the discharge of their responsibilities.
The candidate may engage in University service activities such as guest lecturing and committee service. Teaching classroom courses is not an expectation of this position. *Please note that this is a part time position *

Masters degree or PhD in natural science, agriculture, education or a related area.

* Demonstrated skills required for collaborating on grant writing, fund raising and maintaining donor relations.
* Strong organizational and time management skills to establish goals and priorities, oversee multiple projects, achieve goals, and meet critical deadlines.
* Experience with budget, financial and infrastructure management skills.
