Job Description

The UMKC-IHD Maternal and Child Health Program is seeking a Senior Research Assistant or Research Assistant with diverse areas of study and needs.

The Senior Research Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Coordinate and manage activities on multiple projects, including monitoring project timelines and ensuring required deliverables are met
  • Lead partner and stakeholder engagement
  • Serve as a content expert in the areas of MCH and/or public health
  • Oversee data entry and data collection
  • Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and developing research design protocols
  • Prepare data for reporting, meetings, and presentations (i.e. export data from REDCap, clean, and organize data)
  • Draft reports and other products based on statistical analysis results, ensuring material is appropriate for intended audience
  • Assist in developing evaluation plans
  • Other duties as assigned

The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Manage and respond to project related communications
  • Designing surveys using online data collection platforms (e.g., RedCap, Qualtrics)
  • Recruiting study participants
  • Conducting interviews and focus groups
  • Coordinate training/meeting events
  • Facilitate project partner engagement
  • Coordinate project implementation activities, including assisting with data collection activities
  • Schedule, plan, and facilitate project partner meetings
  • Lead efforts to develop and maintain community resource directories
  • Track and document project-related activities and outcome including data entry and basic analyses
  • Assist with drafting materials for research papers, reports, and/or presentations
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated relevant training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
  • Outstanding planning, communication & organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines & problem-solve
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with conducting policy and/or program evaluation
  • Proficient in applied quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Experience with organizing and drafting reports or materials for research papers and/or presentation
  • Experience with database building, maintenance, and management
  • Experience with data dashboard building, maintenance and management
  • Attention to details
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team

This is a Full-Time, benefit eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position.

Qualifications

Sr. Research Assistant position

  • Master's degree with two years of experience or equivalent knowledge and skills, and relevant experience working with grants, research projects, data, and program evaluation.

Research Assistant

  • Bachelor's degree and relevant experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for the Sr. Research Assistant position has been established as $55,000 to $62,000 and for the Research Assistant has $42,000 to $50,000.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
