The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is accepting applications for Student Teacher Supervisors. This is a on-site, part-time position with some room for flexible scheduling. You will be the liaison between the University and partner schools and report to our Associate Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education.

What you'll do:

  • Attend yearly trainings by the Office of Educator Preparation in our Candidate and Program Assessment Systems.
  • Facilitate honest feedback conversations that encourage and support growth.
  • Assist mentor teachers in guiding the professional development of teacher candidates.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship between SNHU's Education Programs and the partner schools. University-based clinical educators are liaisons between the university and the schools where teacher candidates are placed.
  • Visit the teacher candidates and conference with them after each visit to inform them of their progress and the areas where they need to improve.
  • Perform 5 site visits each semester
  • Communicate in person or virtually with mentors within the first two weeks of the semester if it is a new placement.
  • Complete all assessments in Anthology Portfolio (online portfolio system) as outlined in the Assessment Calendar.
  • Be available to teacher candidates for questions, discussion of problem areas and support in their placement.
  • Facilitate the exchange of the necessary documentation between the university and the cooperating school.
  • Conference with mentor each time the teacher candidate is visited and be available between visits for phone conferences if needed.
  • Communicate concerns expressed by the school-based clinical educator or the teacher candidate immediately to the Office of Educator Preparation

What we're looking for:

  • Master's degree in education or related field
  • Current or past New Hampshire Educator License (Principal, Curriculum Administrator, Special Education Administrator, or Superintendent)
  • A combination of 5+ years public school teaching and school district leadership experience

Below we have noted the entire pay band for the position, which reflects the pay if one were to teach a course. Due to specific nature of this role and that one is mentoring students, it is going to be paid at a rate $600 per student.

Compensation

The standard compensation for courses is $2,800 - $3,400 per 16-week undergraduate or graduate course. Actual pay is determined at the time of course assignment based on discipline.
