Operations Capability Specialist - Cedar Rapids, IA

As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for supporting production packaging and processing operations, sanitation and participation in startup, changeover, and shutdown of operating equipment.

Shift hours:

  • 8-hour shifts
    • 2nd shift: 2:50 pm to 11:20 pm
    • 3rd shift: 3:00pm to 11:00pm
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency events
  • Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

Pay:

  • $40.92 per hour

What your day will look like:

  • Working with HIGH-LEVEL operators on EXPERIENCED teams that are looking to pass down their knowledge to workers WILLING TO LEARN and get paid doing it
  • CHALLENGING yourself to get the JOB DONE RIGHT and gain skills to take with you to your next opportunity
    • Build capability of shift team to maintain equipment at basic conditions (CIL, CL, DH and TOO, changeovers).
    • Build, mentor and coach the team's technical capability and when required, facilitate hands on demonstration to validate learning outcomes.
    • Onboard new members to the shift team in partnership with other trainers as designed by the site's learning program.
    • Support troubleshooting and improvements on the shop floor using problem solving processes
    • Build capability of team via Human Safety and Food Safety Standards.
    • Take action to mitigate human and food safety risks through work as done conversations and when risk mitigation opportunities are known.
    • Engage in Improvement Plan creation and execution.
    • Engage in daily loss elimination via shift DDS plan for the day. Responsible to execute and monitor the learning plan.
    • Enable shift team members to progress in their learning.
    • Create, maintain and improve learning materials and programs.
    • Identify and address skill gaps on the team that are related to losses.
    • Enable training by freeing up the right resources to develop knowledge and skill.
    • Reinforce process rigor through checking for understanding and assessments.
    • Facilitate change management for continuous improvement in technology and processes.
    • Assist in training new employees

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school education or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing experience

Specific Job Experience or Skills Needed (Preferred)

  • Preferred 5 years of experience in a manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Success in driving results through process and teamwork
  • Proven success reducing losses and improving performance in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated technical capability and knowledge of unit operations and machinery (at least one production platform). Qualified on key positions on the team OR Safe to Operate key positions on the team.
  • Skilled at communicating between work groups, and with cross-functional resources
  • Has experience pulling and analyzing data and leveraging data systems to interpret information (e.g.: MQIS, Maximo)

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
