Job Description

Our HUBwest Garagehas an opening for aJourneyman Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic.

The work schedule for this position isMonday - Friday 1:30PM - 10:00PM

Minimum Requirements:



  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion ofoneof the following:

    • Completed a qualified Journeyman Mechanic Apprenticeship Program; an Automotive AAS degree from a community college or have graduated from a Certified Automotive Technical School,PLUSfive (5) years of experience in the trade
    • If no formal training:candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the trade.




Applicants must have at least aClass A CDL permitat the time of applicationand a clean driving record.



  • If the applicant is awarded the position and hold a CDLPermit,they must obtain a valid Class A CDL license (for manual transmission with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes))prior to their official transfer/start date.
  • If the applicant is awarded the position and holds anout-of-stateCDL, they must obtain a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (for manual transmission with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes))within 30 days of their official transfer/start date.



Applicants must demonstrate knowledge in the following areas:

- All aspects of medium/heavy duty gas and diesel truck maintenance and repair
- Light duty vehicle maintenance and/or construction equipment
- Must have hydraulic equipment experience
- Preferred experience in mobile fleet service

Additional Information:

- Must live within reasonable distance(one (1) hour)from headquarters
- Applicants must pass aptitude and qualifying Journeyman tests (written/hands-on)
- This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 350lbs or less

Testing Information

Tests are only administered to referred candidates. More information about our tests and the testing process can be found HERE.

A written [paper and pencil] test will be administered.
A test using a computer with keyboard will be administered.
A hands-on skills test will be administered.

E-mail will be the method of contact with job applicants for test scheduling. Please be sure to check your e-mail regularly so that you receive scheduling notifications for testing and updated job information.

Role Type

Onsite: Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on the responsibilities of the role, this may include, but is not limited to, working at a power plant, job site, or in the community.

*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).

*Role types are subject to change based on business need

Eligibility:

Must live or relocate within reasonable distance to the headquarters. Reasonable distance is defined as one (1) hour for Metro and State Region locations. Reasonable distance for Troublemen, Local Representatives, and Substation Technicians is defined as thirty (30) minutes for Metro locations and forty-five (45) minutes for State Region locations. Failure to accept a job offer due to the reasonable distance requirement specific to the position will be counted toward the bid restriction as described in Article 13, Section 11




  • For jobs in departments (System, Reliability, Hotstick) that require the majority of the work be performed out-of-town and as such, employees/crews are not required to report to the established headquarters unless directed by Leadership; the reasonable distance requirement will be waived*.


    *This will not apply to Troublemen, Local Representatives or Substation Technicians
