Job Purpose

The Supervisor/Senior Supervisor, Construction & Maintenance is responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of the gas distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of 10 operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with Company, departmental and Regulatory policies, procedures and statutory requirements.

Supervises internal personnel to assure the timely and cost-effective completion of work within the area of responsibility. Provides emergency response and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Oversee the operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
  • Ensure supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
  • Review, ensure accuracy and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices and payroll activities.
  • Ability to schedule, coordinate and execute workload in support of Gas Field Operations and Construction.
  • Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.
  • Act as the first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreements.
  • Promote and implement best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity.
  • Regular review of the Collector App to ensure information is in accordance with Company standards
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or minimum 5 years of related experience in the Gas Field Operations Maintenance & Construction area, with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline.
  • Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in field operations activities.
  • Ability and knowledge to develop standard operating procedures for field personnel to support the performance of gas work and connections on energized distribution/transmission facilities.
  • Must have, or possess the ability to develop, a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting and performance tracking of the designated area.
  • Ability to gain a theoretical knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes and how to apply them effectively.
  • Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships.
  • Ability to perform off-hour coverage and provide sound decision-making during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to travel overnight outside the normal work area as needed.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.

Downstate NY Salary: $130,000 - $153,000 a year

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
