The Manager, Communications will support strategic external communications for AES' renewables and energy infrastructure portfolio in the West and Mountain West regions of the US, positioning AES as a solution-focused market leader in utility-scale clean energy development. This role will be a member of the AES' US Businesses' External Affairs team, supporting external communications, media relations, digital, thought leadership and content creation in alignment with the global brand strategy.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Support AES' overallexternal communications strategyto effectively position the company as a solution-focused and innovative market leader with critical stakeholder audiences, aligning with AES global brand narrative
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and internal subject matter experts, and conduct independent research tounderstand technical industry-related informationand deliver compelling content that meets the needs of customers and key stakeholder audiences
  • Support the creation of asuite of collateralto showcase AES' distinctive capabilities in the industry to support strategy and development goals
  • Manage press engagement in key, local project markets and track localmedia relationsactivities utilizing media monitoring and stakeholder management software
  • Employdigital toolsto build platforms to showcase successful projects, and position AES in key markets
  • Draft posts that increase AES'social media presence to highlight the US portfolio
  • Assist with thought leadership development to increaserecognition and public visibilityof AES through industry events, sponsorships and speaking engagements
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of proven experience in communications, public affairs, marketing, journalism, stakeholder engagement, or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Political Science, Environmental Policy, or relevant discipline
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in the energy sector, specifically renewable energy
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships across a matrixed, global organization
  • Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Experience with managing or assisting in the production of high-quality marketing collaterals and digital content
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive tasks
  • Knowledge of stakeholder management software, media monitoring platforms, social media platforms and digital analytics
  • Ability to travel as needed

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $115.000 and $143.650/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
