Job Description

As Sr. Counsel, you will be responsible for advising a variety of business units within the company on competition-related matters, including in the context of acquisitions and regulatory matters, as well as supporting a diverse range of investigations and litigation matters. You will also provide general and competition-specific legal advice on a day-to-day basis to the Visa business. This role will report into Visa's Global Litigation & Competition team.

Essential Functions

  • Providing legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of legal issues arising from business-as-usual activities, with a specific focus on antitrust and competition advice

  • Developing strategies, procedures and processes in partnership with business units to mitigate antitrust and other legal risk

  • Managing outside counsel

  • Assisting with litigation matters, including reviewing and approving pleadings and motions, and attending court hearings and depositions

  • Assisting with discovery-related activities, including collection and production of documents, to ensure coordination across multiple matters

  • Keeping Visa management and business units apprised of developments and strategy related to ongoing investigations or litigation, particularly with respect to antitrust & competition issues

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

* 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

* 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD

* Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing

* Preferred years' experience: 10-12 years full-time employment in top-tier law firm or in-house environment

* Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become

barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.

* Strong experience advising and counseling a business on complex antitrust and competitions matters, including in the context of litigation and regulatory investigations

* Familiarity with all phases of litigation and e-discovery preferred

* Strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills

* Demonstrated leadership skills and strategic focus

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of management and across business functions

* Able to perform both independently and in a team environment

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $216,000.00 to $281,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
