C3 AI is seeking a highly qualified employment, litigation, and regulatory counsel to join the C3 AI Legal team. The candidate will perform a broad range of employment and regulatory-related legal work, with a focus on strategically developing and executing on C3 AI's global employment matters, as well as regulatory and privacy matters. The ideal candidate is a strong litigator with great judgment, strong communication skills and an ability to get "in the weeds" and not simply manage the docket through outside counsel. Candidates must have the proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast--paced environment. This role with report directly to the Deputy General Counsel of Litigation and Compliance.

Responsibilities:

Employment Law:



  • Serve as the employment law partner to various teams within C3 AI to provide advice and manage projects involving a wide range of issues, including HR-related compliance issues, recruiting issues, professional services and contingent worker issues, pay equity reporting and employment-related statutory reporting (e.g., EEO-1, AAP, etc.), pay practices (including vacation pay and overtime calculations), environmental health and safety compliance, and employee training requirements.
  • Serve as the employment law team lead for international expansion and other corporate initiatives.
  • Act as privacy counsel on issues related to employee data protection and employment-related privacy issues, including assisting in responding to data subject access requests.
  • Draft employment-related agreements, templates, policies, and forms (e.g., leave of absence policies, employment agreements, policies, separation agreements, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver training, in coordination with HR, on HR and employment law topics for managers and business leaders.
  • Conduct periodic reviews, audits, and compliance assessments of employment-related policies and practices.
  • Monitor changes and updates to employment laws; draft, maintain, and update legal research memos and resources; and advise stakeholders of developments that may impact C3 AI.


Litigation:



  • Identify, analyze and mitigate C3 AI's risk on disputes across a variety of practice areas (e.g., commercial matters, labor/employment, intellectual property, etc.).
  • Lead investigations and manage disputes with outside counsel through pleadings, motion practice, discovery and trial.
  • Provide pragmatic advice to C3 AI executives on litigation risk and litigation-related processes.
  • Partner with C3 AI outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent C3 AI and its interests.
  • Assist and lead efforts in creating, improving, and developing scalable processes and procedures related to the handling of litigation matters for a rapidly growing company.
  • Advise business stakeholders on litigation risks and issues involved in business disputes.
  • Pragmatically weigh legal risks and benefits of complex situations and propose practical solutions with tact and maturity.
  • Review and advise on litigation-related contractual provisions in commercial agreements, to include providing advice on dispute resolution, governing law, venue, arbitration, limitation of liability, and indemnification clauses.


Regulatory/Compliance:



  • Advise stakeholders on all aspects of privacy law, both domestic and international.
  • Create and implement best practices for compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
  • Implement and execute on data protection assessments and data processing regimes.
  • Keep abreast of artificial intelligence laws and regulations, such as the EU AI Act, and create and implement compliance regimes for such laws and regulations.
  • Manage compliance with international laws and regulations.


Qualifications:



  • JD from top law school; Active membership in at least one U.S. State bar.
  • 8+ years related experience, including 3+ years at a premier law firm or government agency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter able to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.
  • Sufficient experience with civil litigation to manage a case through all stages.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior in-house experience is preferred.

  • Attitude that no project is too big or too small.
  • International experience is a plus.

$240,000 $300,000 USD
