Architectural Metal Superintendent
Position Identification: Exempt
Reports to: Metals Operation Manager
Position Summary:
The Architectural MetalSuperintendent is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the daily activities of the fabrication shop and production crews. The Superintendent will be responsible for fabricating and installing sheet metal products and systems of the highest quality safely and cost-effectively.
Job Functions:
- Provide training, leadership, and direction to the fabrication shop employees and multiple installation crews.
- Train employees on safety procedures and the proper use of safety equipment.
- Complete timely performance reviews on all sheet metal employees.
- Maximize productivity while maintaining job costs, installation quality, and employee safety.
- Ensure the proper utilization of materials and equipment.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a dependable and knowledgeable sheet metal workforce.
- Ensure quality practices for the department.
- Educate employees on best practices, terminology, materials, and equipment for sheet metal work.
- Plan, administer, and participate as an instructor in company-sponsored education programs for the workforce.
- Promote a proper work ethic and enforce the Company's policies, procedures, and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 8-10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with ACM/MCM, concealed fastener wall panels, Nichiha/Concrete panels, column wraps in ACM/MCM, measuring custom metal trims.
- Familiarity with electronic metal break.
- Proficient knowledge of PC software applications, including Word and Excel.
- Possesses a working knowledge of shop drawings, blueprint reading, and specifications.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Occasional travel and out-of-town work are required.
- Available to work for extended hours when necessary.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Extensive knowledge of multiple types of sheet metal products and systems.
- Advanced planning skills for establishing maximum productivity of workforce, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to represent the Company professionally, promoting the organization in a positive and productive discipline which will serve as an example to others.
- Other critical skills include problem identification and resolution, multi-tasking, follow-through skills to bring tasks to closure, prioritization, and a sense of urgency in accomplishing tasks promptly.
Prefered Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Ability to conduct panel layouts based on current shop drawings.
- Field-measure ACM panels and communicate measurements to the fabrication team.
- Ability to install and layout ACM (composite panel/rain-screen system) according to the installation manual.
- Ability to install and layout hidden fastener panels.
- Ability to install exposed fastener panels.
- Ability to measure and install custom trims, including but not limited to aluminum and copper.
- Vision to see critical path areas for optimal performance and scheduling.
Occupational Health and Safety:

- Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety
- Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace
