The PEO(A) Advanced Development Team is seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering expertise and technical leadership in support of cutting-edge aviation development programs. This role will be instrumental in guiding the development, integration, and evaluation of advanced aviation systems, with a strong focus on emerging technologies, mission system architectures, and rapid prototyping efforts.

Duties:



  • Serve as the technical lead for systems engineering activities within the PEO(A) Advanced Development portfolio, supporting naval aviation modernization and future capability initiatives.
  • Develop and manage system requirements, architecture definitions, interface control documents, and system-level designs for emerging aviation systems.
  • Lead trade studies, technology assessments, and analysis of alternatives (AoAs) for advanced avionics, autonomy, weapon systems, and C4ISR integration.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including airworthiness, software, mission systems, logistics, and test & evaluation to ensure holistic system development.
  • Provide oversight and review of contractor and government deliverables, including system specifications, verification plans, and risk assessments.
  • Support Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR), milestone decisions, and other acquisition lifecycle events.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across NAVAIR, ONR, DARPA, and industry partners to align technical efforts with operational needs and strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DoD acquisition and systems engineering policies (e.g., DoDI 5000.88, MIL-STD-881, and SECNAVINST 5000 series).


Required Experience:



  • 12+ years of relevant systems engineering experience in defense or aerospace domains, preferably within naval aviation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in system architecture development, requirements engineering, and integration of complex systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and documentation standards.
  • Proficiency in tools such as DOORS, Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar MBSE platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical briefings and stakeholder engagement.


Required Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.


Desired Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T), autonomy, AI/ML applications in aviation, or future vertical lift platforms.
  • Prior support to PEO(A), PMA programs, or NAVAIR Advanced Development activities.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $110,323.71-$165,485.57 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
