Individual Assistance Disaster Assessment Team Leader

The Individual Assistance Disaster Assessment Team Leader is responsible for leading the individual assistance disaster assessment team. Team Leaders may be required to deploy short notice throughout the state of Florida or surrounding states. In this role, you will be part of a team of experts providing critical disaster survivor focused assistance during their greatest time of need.

• Leads the individual assistance disaster assessment team.
• Act as a key part of the Emergency Operations Command Team.
• Leads and coordinates all damage assessment and verification activities in alignment with FDEM criteria, including site inspections and technical support.
• Manages logistics, staffing, and scheduling for assessment teams, ensuring effective operations and interagency coordination.
• Collects and enters accurate damage data into grant management systems, including creating detailed reports, maps, and visual documentation.
• Supports applicants by assisting with damage claim documentation and drafting assistance requests.
• Maintains professional communication and provides timely customer service to applicants throughout the process.
• Satisfactorily complete all required trainings (as a new hire and ongoing) to obtain and maintain your eligibility to complete damage assessments. These trainings may take place in-person and/or virtually.
• Maintain deployment availability in the MCS portal.
• Properly maintain all required safety gear, communication tools, and assessment equipment.
• Act as an MCS recovery partner by providing exceptional customer service and directing applicants to additional resources as needed and answer their questions to the best of your ability.
• Adhere to MCS policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, Safety Policy, and procedures for training, availability tracking, time keeping, and travel reimbursement.
• Work in challenging environments, including physically and mentally demanding situations requiring significant physical exertion and endurance, including, but not limited to prolonged standing, walking, bending and reaching.
• Perform additional technical duties as assigned.

• Fluent in speaking, reading, writing and comprehending English.
• Ability to speak Spanish or another language is a plus.
• Able to navigate modern mobile devices (including laptop, tablet, and smart phone) and basic network systems.
• Maintain a professional appearance, ensuring compliance with dress code and badging requirements.
• Maintain positive demeanor during challenging and stressful incident response operations, delivering exceptional service with a servant's heart.
• Proficient in business writing and documentation.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Exhibit MCS SHINE values (service, hustle, integrity, nurture, and excellence) in all interactions with others, including survivors, colleagues, and clients.

• This is a seasonal, on-call position that is dependent on disaster activity and client needs.
• When deployed, Site Inspectors may often work 10+ hours per day, for 7 days per week for a minimum of 2 weeks at a time.
• Harsh conditions should be expected and prepared for including, but not limited to, limited lodging and/or travel and a variety of extreme weather and terrain conditions.
• Attire and personal hygiene must be maintained to MCS and client standards at all times.
• Travel to and from the disaster region and to and from individual properties is required.
• Deployment for this role may be extended for unknown periods of time.

Education:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completed the following trainings is highly preferred: FEMA IA, Vol. Management, Donation Management
• Completed the following FEMA Independent Study courses is highly preferred: IS-100, IS-200, IS-403, IS-632, IS-700, IS-703, IS-800, IS-1160, and IS-2900; E/L0166, G0194.4 and G0556

Experience:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to pass MCS background checks, including (but not limited to) criminal and motor vehicle checks
• Previous experience completing FEMA inspections is preferred.
• Completed mission as administrative lead on 2 federally declared disasters as IA Team Leader
• Extensive knowledge of all programs as well as assisted writing SAP - completed 10 years in EM in Human Services position

Site Inspectors perform work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind. The position involves regularly traversing stairs and uneven terrain, as well as walking and standing for extended periods of time. Site Inspectors must have the ability to work in severe environments with limited access to amenities, lodging, and other resources. This position requires the ability to travel to disaster locations for extended periods of time.

$38.24 per hour
