Description

The Supplier Quality Technician will be responsible for coordinating and executing the incoming seafood material inspection activities within the Peabody laboratory while supporting Import FSQA documentation review. This person will be an active agent on Food Safety, and Quality cultural change and an advocate for the protection of High Liner Foods, our customers and our consumers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Performs analytical and organoleptic product quality inspection of frozen seafood material ensuring products are produces to specification standard and analysis of the results
  • Establishes, updates and maintains inspection records such as inspection calendar, sample request tracker, and submission of inspection report on TraceGains (Sass Portal).
  • Support Supplier Quality Specialist, in reviewing incoming seafood material documentation and releases of US and CN import to verify that the information requested is correct and meets HLF's requirements
  • Track Inspection and incoming seafood documentation non conformance
  • Identify and secure any non-conforming incoming seafood materials - Manages holds associated to inspection processing, processing in coordination with the Supplier Quality Specialist.
  • Provide structured feedback to Manager, Global Supplier Quality on incoming seafood material inspection results to ensure timely closure and resolution.
  • Leads the implementation and maintenance of good laboratory practices.
  • Provide regular and structured feedback to stakeholders on supplier seafood material quality performance (non-conformance etc.).
  • Support of other company-wide Quality and Food Safety initiatives and team members
  • Support sales and procurement teams as raw material quality subject matter expert


Qualifications



  • Over 1 year of hands-on experience in product inspection and/or quality assurance/food safety within the food industry.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and GFSI standards; experience with these systems is a strong asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to resolve conflicts constructively and foster collaboration.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities; adept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and projects independently and on time
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical principles, with good analytical and problem-solving skills; result driven.
  • Capable to maintain clean and organize lab workspace to support food safety and productivity.
  • Committed to maintaining a high-performance, safety-focused work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes, and ERP systems including JD Edwards.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Food Science or a related technical field (not required).

Working conditions



  • Full time in office between Portsmouth NH and Peabody MA.


Physical requirements/Allergens



  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, drills
  • Ability to differentiate color
  • Strong sense of taste and smell
  • Significant exposure to seafood including shellfish
