Job Description

The UMKC School of Dentistry is seeking an Office Manager & Residency Coordinator (UM Job Title: Manager I Business Administration) to support the Orthodontic Residency Program and Clinic. This individual will manage administrative, financial, and personnel activities as assigned by the Residency Program Director.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Optimize patient-base and clinic scheduling by maintaining relationships and clear communications with patient referring base, clinic patients, and clinic labs/suppliers.
  • Consult with patients to develop financial arrangements for treatment plans. Monitor and reconcile monthly payments/collections. Lead and guide collection efforts to optimize financial accounting in the program.
  • Lead, supervise, and train customer/patient service efforts for clinic support functions (i.e. front desk staff, patient scheduling, collections, etc.)
  • Facilitate residency-related ordering and tracking invoices for products and lab services
  • Collaborate with other SOD-based clinics to resolve operational problems as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Research & Graduate Programs Office regarding forms and processes for the residents and the residency program
  • Support residency program activities, which include teaching and research in the Orthodontic Residency program
  • Oversight of the residency program and clinic calendars
  • Provide periodic reports of clinical activities to program director
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Excel
  • Person in this role should have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable with maintaining a high degree of confidentiality due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$65,000 to $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
