The Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership (
RUCOOL) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position to support a multi-institutional project funded by the National Academy of Sciences. The successful candidate will focus on the analysis of oceanographic observations and their application in improving operational ocean forecasts of the Gulf of Mexico, particularly regarding the Loop Current and its eddy field.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing comparisons of numerical model outputs and in situ/ocean remote sensing observations.
- Quantifying model performance through skill assessment metrics.
- Working with data collected from underwater gliders, floats, drifters, PIES, and high frequency radar systems.
- Collaborating with national project partners, including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Texas A&M University, and Florida State University.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A Ph.D. in oceanography, marine science, physical oceanography, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in the analysis and interpretation of ocean observations.
- Proficiency in programming and data analysis using tools such as Python, MATLAB, GrADS, or similar platforms.
