SUMMARY:

The Senior Licensed Mental Health (MH) Clinician provides services to people who experience serious mental illness. This exciting position invites an experienced Senior Licensed Clinician (LCSW or LPC) to be a pivotal member of the interdisciplinary team on our 28-bed crisis intervention services unit (CIS). CIS is an extension of the psychiatric emergency room where patients are sent for re-evaluation of SI/HI and ability to care for self, safe discharge planning, and/or for substance washout. The average length of stay is 24-48 hours.



  • Clinician's Role & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients to determine if they continue to meet involuntary hold criteria
  • Complete Suicide Risk Assessments (CSSRS)
  • Complete in depth "High-Risk" suicide risk assessments (including MEANS safety)
  • Develop crisis safety plans with patients
  • Contact collateral to gain information pertaining to patient's baseline, history of illness, acute concerns and safety planning
  • Collaborate with the unit social worker in identifying and providing appropriate resources for the patient
  • Conducting groups


Ideal Candidate



  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills (especially with SPMI)
  • Keen ability to differentiate between chronic risk factors and acute risk factors that may or may not be modifiable in an acute inpatient setting
  • Ability to understand and appreciate socioeconomic factors and social determinants of health that impact a patient's barriers/access to treatment
  • Solid teamwork skills
  • Previous experience in working with patients that have an SPMI, and understands the high acuity of our patients
  • Familiarity in working with involuntary patients/clients


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Master's degree in Counseling or Behavioral Sciences is required
  • Two (2) years of experience with the SPMI and/or Additive Disease population, preferably in a full-time status, is required
  • Active Georgia LCSW or LPC license is required. Candidates transferring from another state must obtain Georgia license prior to start date
  • Certification with American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
