PUBLIC HEALTH DATA INTERN DIVISION OF PUBLIC HEALTH CITY OF WORCESTER The City of Worcester is seeking a Public Health Data Intern to support the City of Worcester's initiatives related to the Children and Youth Community Health Improvement Plan (CYCHIP) for Worcester, Massachusetts. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public health data management and analysis, while contributing to impactful community health efforts. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
- Assisting in the cleaning and preparation of quantitative and qualitative data sets, ensuring accuracy and consistency for analysis.
- Conducting qualitative data analysis, including coding and thematic analysis of interview transcripts and survey responses (please note that methodology is subject to change).
- Visualizing different kinds of data for a variety of audiences, ensuring clarity and accessibility in presentations and reports.
- Using tools such as Tableau, Canva, and MySideWalk.
- Collaborating with WDPH and Coalition staff to develop data visualizations and presentations that effectively communicate findings.
- Supporting the documentation and reporting of research methodologies and outcomes for the CYCHIP.
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to discussions regarding program development and health initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Enrolled in a graduate program in Public Health, Data Science, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Proficient in using Survey Monkey for quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti)
- Equipped with strong analytical skills and experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Passionate about community health and improving outcomes for children and youth
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Foundational background in related fields such as statistics, research methods, data science and/or public health can be beneficial
- Previous experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
- Interest in public health, youth engagement, or health education
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in community settings
- Bilingual or multilingual
- Demonstrated commitment to health equity and serving diverse populations
- Prior experience collecting and recording data or participating in compliance/enforcement activities
