Success Coach - BAT Cybersecurity - South Campus
FUNCTION: The Success Coach - Information Technology serves as a mentor and guide for students pursuing associate and baccalaureate degrees in Cybersecurity and related IT programs. This role focuses on empowering students to navigate their educational journey, develop career readiness skills, and successfully transition into the workforce or further education. The Success Coach, working with the Education Workforce Coordinator, provides personalized academic and career coaching, helping students set goals, overcome challenges, and connect with opportunities such as certifications, internships, apprenticeships, and job placements in the IT field.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide academic advising, course selection guidance, and registration support to students in IT and cybersecurity programs.
- Offer career coaching to help students explore IT pathways and prepare for industry certifications.
- Develop and implement retention and completion strategies to support student success.
- Maintain and update transfer pathways to universities for IT and cybersecurity students.
- Collaborate with faculty and student support services to enhance student engagement, persistence, and graduation rates through campus events and activities.
Additional Job Functions:
- Engage students through one-on-one advising, workshops, and activities to promote academic success and career readiness.
- Partner with resource specialists and student engagement staff to develop IT-related student programming.
- Assist students in learning communities and mentoring programs.
- Maintain student contact through email, phone calls, in-person meetings, learning management system engagement, and customer relationship management (CRM) system.
- Track student progress and document advising notes in student information systems (e.g., Banner).
- Support faculty in implementing intervention strategies that promote equity and success in IT courses.
- Connect students to campus and community resources for financial aid, tutoring, career services, and other support.
- Collect and analyze student data to improve advising strategies and program outcomes.
- Stay informed on institutional services, policies, and industry trends to provide accurate advising.

- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively, be flexible and adaptable in a changing work environment.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Required Experience:
- Possess personal computer literacy and good organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in academic advising, student services, career counseling, recruiting, or IT education (preferably at the community college level).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity and IT career pathways, including certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience using Banner or similar student management systems.

Note:
- This role requires on-campus presence, with limited remote work arrangements with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend events for student outreach and support.
- Active participation in professional development to stay updated on IT industry trends and academic advising best practices.
