Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for the production of innovative, appropriate, and cost-effective designs, drawings, and specifications for assigned process projects. You will be actively involved in a team approach and make recommendations to deliver integrated processes/systems as specified and contracted.

Your responsibilities will include:

    Application of Knowledge of Process Systems
    • Applies discipline design methods and detailing fundamentals in developing designs and specifications
    • Performs analysis or calculations as assigned for process throughput and mass balance and selects proper equipment for the applications
  • Design
    • Produces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness from layouts, sketches, or their written instructions
    • Develops design concepts and recommends systems, within the discipline; produces pricing and proposal presentation documents and outline specifications; actively participates in project strategy meetings
    • Develops PFDs (process flow diagrams) and P&IDs for all assigned projects, making recommendations and changes/updates as necessary
    • Develops and verifies equipment lists, equipment specifications, and controls, as well as instrumentation requirements for each assigned process project
  • Construction Support
    • Reviews shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents and make recommendations
    • Performs plant surveys or field inspections; develops solutions to field problems; and prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings
    • Performs start-up activities
  • Project Management
    • Performs dimensional, interference, and basic design checks on layouts and sketches and, as requested, on interdisciplinary drawing sets
    • Performs the task of plotting, production, and assembly of drawing packages
  • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
    • Participates in assigned client meetings and prepares and reviews presentation materials
    • Creates a work plan for assigned tasks
    • Monitors and projects personal workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules and determining any schedule changes
    • Creates orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence
    • Designs project within the provided design budget and track additional hours utilized, including when the scope is expanded
  • Professional Development
    • Participates in professional community organizations and trade organizations within the discipline
  • Leadership
    • Adheres to established company standards and policies

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical/mechanical/industrial engineering from an accredited university
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Utilizes design software and tools; familiarity with Revit or AutoCAD

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. This range is specific to Salt Lake City, UT and the actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience.
