Position Summary |
This position will serve as a Clinical Research Coordinator within the department of Pediatrics, division of Children's Research Institute. The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, and conduct of multiple clinical research study protocols, including independently collecting and recording data, project administration, and communication with various stakeholders.
Duties will include patient recruitment, protocol execution, study procedures, administration of survey/questionnaires and data collection and maintenance. This position will negotiate responsibilities based on protocols currently underway and those in development. Other responsibilities include the initiation and maintenance of
IRB and other regulatory procedures and protocols.
The role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and flexible individual, capable of managing competing priorities. The successful candidate will possess previous clinical research work experience in an academic health care setting; experience with general office computer systems and programs; demonstrated ability to work independently with limited guidance. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally.
- Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Experience with direct patient/family interaction and study subject recruitment/coordination.
- Experience with preparation/submission of documentation to internal and external regulatory units (e.g., IRB, CTC, OSR, CTRC).

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Experience pediatric or adult clinical research is strongly desired.
- Preference will be given for candidates with recent, direct experience with clinical trials (including experience with UNC IRB process, FDA regulatory requirements, ICH GCP guidelines, and EPIC).
- The preferred candidate will also have experience in execution of clinical trials in various stages, including study startup, recruitment, study management, data collection, and closeout.
- Experience with competitive enrollment studies is also favored.
- Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) certification is strongly desired.
- Experience monitoring vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure) and phlebotomy experience are highly desirable.
- Candidates who have worked with children in a clinical setting, have the ability to build rapport with families of diverse backgrounds, and are self-motivated are highly sought.
