Principal Product Manager

Role Summary:

Responsible for the end-to end product management of Tax Information Reporting software products and services to support the strategic goals of the business. The product manager defines and executes the product and service strategy and business requirements for the ONESOURCE 1099/ACA product family. Working with sales, clients and internal teams, the product manager leads go-to-market activities that drive growth and market acceptance of the product.

About the Role
As a Principal Product Manager you will:

  • Define and drive a product vision that capitalizes on market opportunities, innovation and leads to growth of the Tax Information Reporting business segment
  • Ownership of product strategy, business requirements, feature prioritization and deliverables that reflect the needs of the market, clients and the business
  • Understand trends and practices in the tax information reporting industry and the associated impact on our products or business as well as the challenges or opportunities created
  • Follow and interpret the impact of regulatory and competitive developments
  • Develop business cases, concept proposals and buy vs. build analyses for new initiatives and promote them internally, including to senior management
  • Research and define business requirements for software features that will drive revenue, build client satisfaction and maintain our leading market position
  • Involvement with technology throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure the developed solution meets business requirements, drives innovation and increases client adoption and retention
  • Partner with marketing to position products, build thought leadership, produce effective sales collateral, event materials and webcasts
  • Interact with the User Advisory Board and the Customer Engagement team to understand their needs and turn that knowledge into actionable product strategies
  • Partner with sales to understand client needs and perspectives and to act as product advocate
  • Participate in market sizing, pricing analysis and sales support activities
  • Project management and cross-functional leadership of virtual teams to execute on strategic initiatives

About You:

You are a fit for this role, if you have:

  • Strong track record of leading and influencing cross-functional teams on complex projects
  • Ability to understand and interpret fundamental workings and trends within target industry
  • Ability to understand and apply technology to product development
  • Superior client engagement skills with ability to build and manage relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to influence internal and external audiences
  • Strong analytical and decision-making ability
  • Strong skills in negotiation, complex problem solving, and conflict management
  • Self-motivation, creativity and flexibility

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
  • 4+ years of tax and/or information reporting experience preferred
  • 5+ years software product management, software product development or similar consulting experience
  • Past experience within Tax & Accounting is a plus

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $177,380 - $329,420.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $154,000 - $286,000.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
