The opportunity

The Senior Systems Analyst reports directly to the Director of SIS Solution Delivery. You will partner with business and technical teams to translate our requirements into solutions. We are seeking knowledge of the Banner Student Information System, specifically regarding the Student module (including both Student Record data and student-related functionality such as registration, conferral, and NSC reporting). As the primary functional/technical authority on the assigned systems/projects, we are seeking demonstrated expertise in developing solutions and analyzing the cross-system and business impacts of modifications and enhancements.

The Senior Systems Analyst leads technical proposals for integrated solutions that achieve comprehensive success criteria. This Analyst is an instrumental liaison between teams (including the Registrar's Office, Admissions, and Advising) and Information Technology Solutions (ITS) and may be a developer/configuration specialist. You will track solutions and fixes from the beginning through delivery. You will work 100% remotely within any of our approved working states. #LI-Remote

What You'll Do:

  • Plan and perform technical specification and prioritization activities using selected methods and tools. Translate high-level requirements into specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts. Document all aspects of technical specifications using best practices as defined by the team, ensuring understanding of functional, non-functional, system context, operations, maintainability, and impacts.
  • Be a primary "two-in-a-box" partner with the Student functional SME(s).
  • Demonstrate expertise in implementing solutions. Resolve difficult problems with urgency and provide a clear demonstration throughout all activities and phases of analysis and design.
  • Ensure change control and communication of solution evolution.
  • Assess, design, and make recommendations regarding complex IT systems to meet our goals and priorities, balancing requirements, cost, and effect. Perform impact analysis, map system interdependencies, document interfaces, and make recommendations on major design options, assessing trade-offs and risks. Ensure system design, about configuration and batch jobs, balances functional, service quality, security, performance, deployment, supportability, operations, and other main systems management standards.
  • Act in a development capacity regarding configuration and scripting for the SIS system.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of Southern New Hampshire University's SIS system and its out-of-the-box capabilities, together with its interactions with other systems at SNHU. Wherever possible, aim to use supplied capabilities and avoid customization.
  • Leverage and support project management methods by assisting with planning, providing estimates and work breakdown structures for your work and the work of other roles, reporting progress, flagging/resolving risks to ensure predictable and successful achievement of desired outcomes. Perform mentoring of less experienced staff members.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership in collaboration with product owners, business analysts, solution architects, developers, QA, and other team members to support all phases of the Software/System Development Lifecycle (e.g., prototyping, requirements, design, system testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, operational troubleshooting). Lead complex solution implementations by balancing organizational priorities (e.g., cost, security, scalability, and interoperability) while communicating needs to ensure stable, successful outcomes.
  • Work with business liaisons to perform detailed evaluation of cost-benefit and Return on Investment analyses.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of Banner Student analyst experience with a track record in developing complex business and technology solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with development tools/languages and SQL report generation.
  • Experience with higher education concepts and their technical possible effects.
  • Experience with application development/configuration, data management, performance testing, and technical documentation.

We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives and talents are celebrated. So if you're wondering whether SNHU is right for you, take the leap and apply. You might be just the person we're looking for.
