KPMG is currently seeking an Associate Director, Information Architecture to join our Digital Nexus technology organization. This is a hybrid work opportunity.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and structure how information is organized, labeled, cataloged, and accessed across digital platforms and data ecosystems; ensure that complex information, whether structured data, documents, or digital content, is intuitive, findable, and usable for both humans and machines
  • Develop taxonomies, metadata standards, and semantic models; optimize information flow and retrieval; collaborate with UX, data, and business teams to create a unified and accessible information layer; enable self-service, support AI and knowledge systems; align content and information strategy with business goals
  • Support the development and design of a data vision, strategy and implementation path; champion alignment to the applicable strategies, and adherence to them, the related commitments, the budget and management of the risk
  • Contribute to innovation that will impact and create a high financial, client value, and efficiency impact within department; foster value creation using the organization's data assets, as well as the external data ecosystem including value creation through data exploration, envisioning data-enabled strategies, as well as enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics, data and analytics governance, and enterprise information policy
  • Create and manage business information models in all their forms, including conceptual models, relational database designs, message models and others; use tools such as business information models to provide the organization with a future-state view of the information landscape that is unencumbered by the specific data implementation details imposed by proprietary solutions or technologies
  • Interact regularly with delivery partners and/or department leaders; proactively initiate ideas to improve client service for a specific work product within a department; contribute to department or group objectives, strategies and priorities; set tactical plan for execution of strategic objectives; act as a trusted advisor to clients, as well as others within the firm to achieve the required goals and objectives
Qualifications:
  • Minimum eight years of recent practical experience of designing and implementing information or data solutions, as well as with innovation and ideation methods, such as design thinking; practical experience implementing data and analytics management programs is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Understanding of business domain, data/content and process, as well as understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models and metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as of the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less-structured sources
  • Expert knowledge of data modeling and information classification with knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques; familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data lake and warehouse design and implementation techniques, as well as with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments; understanding of a variety of data access and analytic approaches (such as microservices and event-based architectures)
  • Understanding of data governance principles; familiarity with AI and agentic frameworks; proven experience as a data analyst is preferred, as well as specific experience with data and business information modeling is preferred
  • Ability to manage change and effectively communicate to teams; outstanding verbal/written communication, collaboration, presentation and negotiation skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork; ability to foster the development of high-performance teams; capability of building strong professional relationships with ability to influence all levels across the organization; creative thinker with ability to identify innovative business solutions
