The opportunity

Job Summary:

Southern New Hampshire University is committed to enriching student life by creating a campus culture grounded in engagement, inclusion, and leadership. With the goal of creating an environment that promotes cultural awareness, inclusivity, and growth the Office of Diversity Programs is seeking a student leader to serve as an Affinity Group Facilitator for H.O.L.A (Hispanic Organization for Latin Awareness), an affinity group supporting Hispanic/Latinx students and celebrating Latinx heritage, identity, and community. Affinity Group Facilitators plan, organize and facilitate weekly meetings which provide opportunities for participants/students to learn about themselves, actively engage with others, and celebrate specific shared identities. The Affinity Group Facilitator will demonstrate commitment to the departmental mission and values alongside a sensitivity and care for students from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities. The facilitator will develop key career-readiness competencies including leadership, equity & inclusion, communication, and critical thinking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate weekly group meetings (10-13 per semester), designing content and gathering materials that promote self-awareness, community engagement, and learning.

  • Foster a respectful and inclusive environment that affirms multiple identities, values diverse perspectives, and encourages open dialogues.

  • Serve as a campus connector, directing students to relevant university services, opportunities, and support resources.

Competencies: Communication, Career & Self-Development

  • Promote H.O.L.A. through strategic outreach, including event tabling, print and digital marketing, and peer-to-peer engagement to build group awareness and membership.

Competencies: Technology, Communication, Leadership

  • Manage key administrative responsibilities, including roster, budget requests, survey results, and end-of-semester reporting that reflects on group impact and personal leadership development.

Competencies: Critical Thinking, Technology, Career & Self-Development

  • Author mid-year and end-of-year reflections, summarizing topics covered, group feedback, recruitment efforts, and your own growth as a peer facilitator.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including monthly team meetings, biweekly supervision, and logistics planning, with a commitment to learning and collaboration.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals and student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts and a demonstrated commitment to supporting underrepresented identities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across differences
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions
  • Prior leadership or peer facilitation experience preferred
  • Basic comfort with digital platforms, email, and shared files
  • Valid driver's license and ability to become an SNHU-approved driver
  • Current undergraduate or graduate day program student enrolled in classes andin good academic and community standing
  • Students with Federal Work-Study may be prioritized

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
