DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will play a key role in managing the heating and cooling systems of the Farm Show Complex, which includes gas-fired hot water boilers, gas-fired hot air systems, heat pumps, chilled water systems, and DX air conditioning systems. These systems can be operated either manually or through the HVAC BAS computer controls. Additionally, you will oversee the work of Utility Plant Operator I and Utility Plant Helper staff, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of the facility's climate control systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • The work schedule for this position is 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM during heating season and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM during cooling season with possible evening hours required based on show schedule.
  • This position is considered essential and as such is required to report to working during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, units, and equipment;or
  • Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems;or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
