Job Summary

The Facilities Controls Tech II - (intermediate level) performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repair services on Building Automation, energy management, and access controls systems.


Essential Duties

  • Manages intricate controls installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair tasks.
  • Diagnoses system performance through observation, testing and setup as required by trade/position. Performs planned maintenance and inspections as indicated in the contract. Proficiently operates hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.
  • Executes preventive maintenance, scheduled projects, and corrective service calls as instructed. Cultivates lasting customer relationships, ensures customer satisfaction through clear explanations of work performed, and maintains open communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Serves as a front-line resource to HVAC technicians through technical support. Coordinates the work of subcontractors and trains and provides guidance to technicians.
  • Participates in technician on-call standby rotation as dictated by business unit policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates multi-tech projects.
  • Completes documentation of commissioning and check out data based on hours worked and materials or equipment used to complete projects.
  • Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer, follows requirements of company vehicle driving policy and adheres to all company safety requirements.
  • Maintains equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers. Uses technology/software to create and modify programming such as graphics, data bases, sequences, etc.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum requirement: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: A two-year technical degree in a related field.

Tridium AX/N4, Distech and Siemens Certification preferred.

2-5 years of related experience

The minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Proficiency in A/C electrical circuits, low voltage D/C electrical circuits, and their operations.
  • Hands on experience with one or more controls platforms (Siemens, Distech, JCI, Inet, etc.).
  • Access controls and lighting controls installations and programming skills.
  • Advance controls programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.
  • Must have ability to use testing and metering devices.
  • Familiar with Windows operating systems and software.
  • Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.
  • Demonstrates strong business ethics at all times.
