Our Northeast Division is a well-respected and award-winning group where career development, training, and mentoring co-exist with diverse civil, environmental, water resources, and traffic/transportation projects in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. We are seeking a talented Project Engineer to support our Civil/Site/Stormwater practice in the Northeast. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership and support on projects and will be responsible for performing technical duties for projects with varying degrees of complexity.

This is a hybrid position and can be located in any of our Greater Boston area offices.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Assists senior staff in the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, calculations, correspondences, cost estimates, permit applications, quantity takeoffs, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Responsible for meeting with and effectively communicating with the project team.
  • Uses reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests and aerial photograph to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the project.
  • Assists in the preparation of technical presentations.
  • Works effectively and efficiently within established hourly budgets and monitors self-performance.
  • Develops expertise in pertinent local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains positive relationships with clients.
  • Identifies technical issues and frequently communicates with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinates and oversees fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections and assessment, and construction observation.
  • Assists senior staff in construction administration tasks such as construction progress meetings; submittal reviews; preparation of meeting agendas and minutes; review of daily and weekly construction reports; preparation of payment applications, RFIs, and change orders; coordination with Resident Project Representatives; completing project closeout; and tracking construction schedules.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with staff.
  • Provides on-the-job training and mentoring for engineers and interns with lesser experience.
  • Demonstrates skill and proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HydroCAD.


What We're Looking For:



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • EIT certification.
  • Working towards obtaining PE certification.
  • 4+ years' of prior relevant professional experience in site/civil design, site planning, grading, stormwater management, land development, drainage, and/or permitting (3+ years if candidate has a master's degree).
  • Proficient in HydroCAD, StormCAD, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking and judgement capabilities.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral skills.
  • Valid and clean driver's license.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts stormwater requirements.
