Position Overview This position supports the director in the development, evaluation and implementation of all TRIO Upward Bound (UB) academic services including academic year tutoring and classroom instruction (4 classes during the academic year) and all instruction during the summer program (14 total classes delivered daily). This position supports the core staff with high school student academic progress and in the development of holistic intervention strategies and services to positively influence the program's ability to meet federal secondary school program objectives and prepare students for the academic rigors of college. During the academic year, this position will oversee the academic program at the University, Mon-Thurs from 3pm-6pm starting in October. Department Overview TRIO Upward Bound (TRIO UB) is a federally funded, U.S. Department of Education equal educational opportunity program. TRIO UB is a college preparatory program for high school students who come from low-income families and are working towards being a first generation college student. TRIO UB works with students, parents, schools and communities, on a long-term and intensive basis to help generate both individual and systemic change. Services are designed to help participants build the skills needed to succeed in postsecondary education. TRIO UB annually serves 118 Minneapolis Public High School students; this federal grant project has received continuous funding since 1966. Pay Range: The salary range for this position is $24/hr to $28/hr. Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.
