The Solar Technician III will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of the Inverters, DC Field, and Balance of Plant (BOP) at Sequoia Solar I & II. What You Will Do:

  • Assist in leading the execution of work in accordance with safe work practices, including electrical safety, at heights, control of hazardous energy, confined space, and cargo management.

  • Follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, completing plans as directed and perform tasks according to reasonably detailed written and verbal instructions.

  • Follow problem-solving processes to complete troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks (including use of tools such as a fluke meter, SCADA information, interpreting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic drawings).

  • Assist in providing guidance and assistance to other technicians when issues arise outside of trained skill level to ensure successful execution of duties.

  • Ensure scheduled solar panel maintenance is conducted safely and completed on time. Ensure accurate time reporting and completion of maintenance records.

  • Identify risks and gaps in task execution in the operational environment of a Solar facility and apply mitigation methods with appropriate oversight.

  • Assist in the leading of development or improvement of procedures and service best practices in the field.

  • Conduct tests and engage with people in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments. Support technical or safety investigations and complete related reports as needed.

  • Perform daily interactions and data entry in the Maintenance Management System (Maximo).

Who You Are:

  • College / Vocational degree or certificate in an electrical field or minimum 3 years as a Solar Maintenance Electrician in good standing and at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Advanced skills in scheduled/standard work, asset integrity inspections, and unscheduled maintenance Top-tier troubleshooting abilities (both basic and advanced).

  • Excellent digital literacy, including solid understanding of Microsoft Windows programs and SCADA.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical drawings and schematics.

  • Unwavering commitment to providing a safe, incident-free work environment, and the ability to demonstrate basic industrial safety practices / protocols including LOTO.

  • Maintain, test, troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance, and repair PV solar equipment (DC and AC) as required.

  • Understand SCADA, troubleshoot electrical control systems and other equipment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills.

  • Availability for unplanned or emergency events.

Working Conditions:

  • Some travel may be needed to assist other facilities on occasion. Valid driver's license is required.

  • Role will require being on-call (24/7) to respond to emergencies and/or maintenance needs of the site (on a pre-determined, scheduled basis).

  • The successful candidate will undergo various background screening that includes but is not limited to a 5-year driving record, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 50 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to work in tight spaces.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, prioritize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, coordinate and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
