Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The Recreation & Sports Manager is responsible for leading operations, cultivating, and executing impactful programming and managing staff to successfully execute the strategic objective of the Recreation & Sports department. Essential Duties and responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Sports & Recreation Staff Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in a recreation or sports-related field preferred. Prefer at least 3 years of experience in developing, planning, managing, and supervising facilities and programs, and/or at least 3 years previous experience in teaching a variety of programs in recreation. Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/AED/First Aid) certification is required and must be maintained on a bi-yearly basis and must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires frequent outdoor supervision due to number of programs supervised during spring and summer months. Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision. Excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally. Working Conditions: The majority of the workday will be in a mixed environment including offices, service counters, and other program spaces. In addition, portions of the primary work facility may be considered humid (outdoor fields and adjacent areas) while other locations (gymnasium) may be considered moderately loud in nature.
