The Maintenance Helper is an entry-level position that assists and learns from maintenance technicians and master mechanics.

Primary Duties:

  • All levels of maintenance should be able to be trained on and operate all lifts on premises
  • All levels of maintenance should exhibit good housekeeping practices in the upkeep of tools, equipment and maintenance working area
  • All levels of maintenance should be able to apply the principles of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including LOTO, start-up/shut-down of machinery, and wearing any applicable PPE
  • Assists maintenance personnel in installation, repair, and other assignments related to the skills of the maintenance helper
  • Contributes to the general housekeeping of the entire plant area, and the assigned area in the maintenance "shop"
  • Completes, maintains, and processes all necessary documents pertaining to repairs, purchases and other appropriate activities
  • Works under the guidance of peers, master mechanics, or the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Recognizes the "customer," and is flexible in changing priorities as required by the customer
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • HS Diploma/equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of computers and operating systems
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Possess problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, co-workers, etc
  • Mechanically inclined

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Up to a year of related experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, caustic or irritating chemicals, extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but time spent on the plant floor can be noisy and proper PPE is required. Proper work attire would be presentable yet comfortable clothing and shoes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms.
