A credit manager is a critical role in organizations that extend credit to customers. They are responsible for oversee the credit granting and collections process, striving to minimize risk and maximize profitability

What a day in this role looks like:



  • Creditworthiness assessment:Evaluate potential customers' credit applications, financial statements, and other relevant information to determine their creditworthiness and set credit limits.
  • Credit decision-making:Approve or reject credit applications, negotiate terms and conditions with customers, and authorize credit limits.
  • Credit monitoring and management:Maintain accurate records of company loans and customer accounts, identify and mitigate potential risks associated with existing accounts, and regularly review credit limits and policies.
  • Collections management:Develop and implement effective collections strategies to minimize overdue accounts, including managing the collection process for delinquent accounts, negotiating repayment schedules, and coordinating with external collection agencies when needed.
  • Reporting and analysis:Generate and analyze reports related to accounts receivable performance, providing insights into cash flow, aging, and collection trends to management and stakeholders.
  • Customer relationship management:Build and maintain positive relationships with customers while also ensuring timely debt repayment and addressing concerns related to credit or collections.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with sales, customer service, and other departments to ensure smooth credit granting and collection processes, addressing customer concerns and optimizing credit decisions.
