POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Operations Services, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Cathodic Protection Technician supporting Tinker Air Force Base located in Oklahoma City, OK. The Cathodic Protection Technician applies cathodic protection (CP) skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on assigned corrosion control equipment, facilities, systems, and associated devices (rectifiers, test stations, ground beds, anodes, critical bonds, foreign line crossings, cased crossing, surveys, etc.). Maintains working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards, performs associated required tasks, and completes required documentation (NACE, DOT, etc.). Assess existing CP systems and create a comprehensive CP program that documents CP systems ensuring underground structures and piping are appropriately protected IAW DOT or industry standards for the respective product being carried and for the type of material the system is made of i.e. aluminum, carbon steel.



  • Proactively conduct pipe-to-soil potential surveys, casing-to-soil readings, rectifier and bond readings, current flows on pipeline, and foreign pipe-to-soil readings and all other structures under CP on a frequency stated in O&M manuals or regulatory requirements and document in the corrosion database or other forms, records or reports
  • Read/interpret pipeline maps, as-built alignment sheets, drawings, and schematics.
  • Communicate with other technicians for effecting repairs when applicable.
  • Assist senior staff in the preparation of survey reports and final job reports.
  • Organize and analyze data gathered, prepare charts and tables.
  • Assemble data for preparation of final client report including service recommendations.
  • Provide maintenance of field test equipment, ensure good operating condition.
  • Make minor repairs to CP systems such as replacement of anodes, test stations, bonding and make minor coating repairs to tanks and piping.
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution.
  • Performs close interval surveys, collects and analyzes data, performs remedial actions according to data results/analysis.
  • Inspects/maintains CP equipment, maintains records and completes required reports.
  • Prepares red lined as-built existing drawings.
  • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions.
  • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
  • Follows Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises, LLC furnished information directives; Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises, LLC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises, LLC Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
  • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • NACE CP Level 1 certification required.
  • Three (3) years of cathodic protection survey experience or education.
  • Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record, proof of valid insurance.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to Cathodic Protection.
  • Understand equipment manuals and DOT standards/regulatory guidelines.
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties required: walking over uneven terrain, bending, moving.
  • Demonstrated skills in using various computer software, including ability to use the Windows operating system as well as common office software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, with personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
  • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.


Preferred Qualifications and Experience:



  • NACE Tech II certification or
  • Within 2 years, be able to pass Corrosion Tech II tests and within three (3) years, attain NACE Level 2 certification or equivalent
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to hear and speak. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Lifts exceeding 50 pounds will be accomplished with two man teams and using appropriate safety equipment to efficiently accomplish the task. The employee is occasionally required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position may currently and/or in the future be required to obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and/or Personal Clearance (PCL) as required by law or contract. Position requires pre-employment drug screening.
