We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Cost Manager to join our team, specializing in third-party cost estimating, scheduling, risk analysis, and constructability reviews. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in preconstruction and project controls who thrive in a consulting environment. You will support clients in making informed decisions by providing independent, data-driven insights throughout the project lifecycle.



Responsibilities

    Deliver third-party cost estimates at all project phases, from conceptual through detailed design.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying critical path activities and potential delays.
  • Conduct risk assessments and facilitate risk workshops to identify, quantify, and mitigate project risks.
  • Perform constructability reviews to identify design and execution challenges early in the project.
  • Provide independent validation of contractor estimates, bids, and change orders.
  • Support value engineering efforts and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports, forecasts, and risk-adjusted budgets to clients.
  • Collaborate with design teams, owners, and contractors to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Assist in financial oversight, including budget tracking and funding analysis, as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field preferred. Alternatively 5+ years experience in related role and field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost estimating, scheduling, or project controls, preferably in a consulting or third-party role.
  • Proficiency in estimating and scheduling software (e.g., ProEst, RSMeans, Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market trends.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and constructability reviews.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CCP, PSP, MRICS, or PMP are highly desirable.

The pay range for this California position is $85,000- $120,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
