The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) is seeking a highly dedicated, enthusiastic, and professional individual to serve as a full-time Communications Specialist III, working 37.50 hours per week in the Office of the Sheriff at the LCSO Headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia.
The position reports to the Manager of News Media Relations and Communications in the Media Relations and Communication Section.

Job Summary

Major job duties include, but are not limited to: *Researching, writing, producing, and publishing a broad range of internal and external communications such as new releases, publications, web and social media content, fact sheets, talking points, flyers, graphics, videos, and emergency incident communications. *Enhancing current online resources to increase the LCSO's reach and engagement among stakeholders. *Photographing LCSO activities, communications, and events. *Engaging with the news media, governmental and other stakeholders, and the public. *Performing other communication-related activities as needed in support of the LCSO's communication goals and objectives. *Serving as back-up to the Manager of News Media Relations and Communications. *This position includes regular on-call duty, typically several times per week, including evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule with other team members. While on call, the employee will respond to significant incidents, support LCSO communications, answer media inquiries, and, when needed, respond to incident scenes. Additional after-hours work may be required to meet deadlines and support special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
