Summary

As a Collection Specialist II with Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, you will be responsible for managing insurance denial resolution and payment recovery for our vital home health care services. You'll specialize in analyzing denied claims, preparing appeals, and working directly with insurance companies to overturn denials and secure proper reimbursement. Working independently, you'll navigate complex payer requirements, resubmit claims with corrected documentation, and resolve challenging denial patterns. As a senior team member, you'll also mentor other staff and serve as a go-to resource for complex denial resolution strategies.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking an experienced insurance collection specialist with strong analytical skills and persistence in overturning claim denials. The ideal candidate understands payer-specific claims, patterns, and excels at crafting successful appeals and resubmission strategies.

Education, Knowledge & Skills:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in insurance denial management, appeals processes, and EOB analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of payer-specific denial reasons and successful resolution strategies
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with ability to train others
  • Ability to work independently while mentoring team members

Salary Range: Minimum 17.50/hour - Maximum 26.23/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
