Aerospace Sales Director

The Sales Director at PPG Aerospace provides dynamic leadership and strategic direction to the sales organization, driving profitable growth within the aerospace coatings and specialty materials segment. This role is responsible for managing and expanding business with aerospace accounts and developing new customer relationships.

The Sales Director will champion sales strategies aligned with PPG Aerospace's objectives, including revenue growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and compliance with regulatory and corporate standards. Close collaboration with Production, EHS, Maintenance, Marketing, Product Management, and other internal stakeholders is essential to ensure seamless execution and customer success.

This is an onsite position located in Savannah, Georgia.

Travel requirements will be up to 30%.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership and Strategy

    • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies with a global perspective aligned with the customer to achieve business objectives for growth, profitability, and market share expansion.

    • Utilize sales enablement tools and initiatives such as ClientLink to optimize pipeline management, contract negotiation, and customer relationship management.

    • Collaborate with category management to align product technologies and sales efforts with aerospace market demands and customer needs.

    • Drive adoption of best practices in sales processes, pipeline development, and customer service excellence.

  • Operational and Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner closely with our CMS leadership (Chemical Management Systems), Production, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure alignment of sales activities with operational capabilities and customer delivery requirements.

    • Support packaging and production operations by providing market insights and customer feedback to influence process improvements and lean initiatives.

  • Customer and Market Focus

    • Build and maintain strong relationships within this key aerospace customer, engaging with stakeholders from senior management to technical and operational personnel.

    • Identify and develop new business opportunities within our existing platform, expanding PPG Aerospace's share of wallet.

    • Be a trusted advisor to this key customer on strategies to increase their market share and optimize their use of PPG products and services.

    • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to proactively adjust sales strategies and maintain competitive advantage.

  • Financial and Performance Management

    • Manage sales budgets, monitor costs, and ensure profitability targets are met or exceeded.

    • Prepare and present regular reports on sales performance, customer satisfaction, cost control, and improvement initiatives to senior management.

    • Lead or participate in strategic planning sessions to forecast future sales needs, capacity planning, and resource allocation.

  • Safety, Environmental, and Quality Compliance

    • Promote and enforce adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards within the sales organization and in customer interactions.

    • Support PPG's EHS initiatives by ensuring our program is supported through proper training and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

    • Participate in audits and inspections as required, ensuring readiness and timely resolution of any findings.

Qualifications

  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of proven sales leadership experience, preferably within aerospace coatings, aerospace materials, or related industrial sectors, with a strong consultative selling approach.

  • Understanding of aerospace production processes, lean manufacturing principles, and regulatory requirements related to packaging and transportation.

  • Proficient in sales management software, CRM tools, and data analytics.

  • Strong financial acumen, including ability to analyze balance sheets and manage budgets.

  • Willing to travel approximately 30% of the time and accommodate flexible working hours as needed.
