Summary of Position

We seek an experienced Senior Director, Data Scientist Engineer to lead the data and ML strategy, architecture, design, development, and implementation of our end-to-end data products. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and deploying intelligent data products that drive business outcomes. With Machine Learning and Generative AI, you will lead a team to uncover key insights into member health and behavior, enabling us to personalize the member experience and provide direct, measurable benefits, both in clinical and financial terms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an end-to-end data product strategy aligning with the company's objectives.

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of data systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and secure. Establish and implement Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives to ensure data accuracy and consistency across the organization.

  • Lead the development of data solutions and architecture in cloud platforms, managing the process effectively to ensure data security and compliance.

  • Work with other Data Science leaders to refine the strategic vision for machine learning and generative AI, analytics, and data products at Teladoc Health.

  • Apply machine learning approaches to solve problems, oversee development and maintenance of product grade machine learning code and pipelines.

  • Foster strategic relationships with key organizational stakeholders, understand their data needs, and align the data product strategy accordingly.

  • Identify opportunities and propose new ways to use ML to solve challenging technical and data engineering problems and thus improve business results.

  • Lead the population health data engineering and science teams, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure data systems and platforms are designed and implemented to support next-generation data and analytics capabilities.

  • Act as a critical liaison between technical and non-technical teams, simplifying complex concepts and fostering data-driven decision-making.

The time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • A Master's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, information systems, engineering, or a related field.

  • 12+ years of experience in leading strategy, innovation, and machine learning to solve challenging technical and data engineering problems.

  • Proven experience in a leadership role in data engineering and architecture, focusing on end-to-end data product strategy.

  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.

  • Depth of experience in at least one of the following: Spark, SQL, and/or Hadoop.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and proven ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of leading and inspiring high-performing teams.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts understandably.

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology will be a strong advantage.

The base salary range for this position is $220,000-$240,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here:Teladoc Health Benefits 2025.Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
