Corrugator Training and Operations Specialist


Job Duties:


This position will provide training and support for the corrugator teams throughout the company. The position reports directly to the Process Technology Director and is closely coupled with the Corporate Maintenance and Reliability Organization. This role will also support the Process Technology Team to assist with Capital Projects and solve operational issues in our plants through the following methods: Training, development of best practices, and implementing fundamental throughput principles at the plants.


This key leadership position is an integral part of the PCA corporate effort to bring real resources to the plants in the form of hands-on training, troubleshooting and guiding the plants continuous improvement efforts. Applicants are expected to have an expert level of knowledge of corrugator operations, various OEM corrugator systems and controls and be a strong trainer and communicator.


Relocation is not required - must be willing to travel 75% to PCA locations throughout the US.


PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  • Support the plants in establishing Safe Working Practices and a clean, injury-free work environment.
  • Support new corrugator projects and startups.
  • Participate in discussions about capital planning and equipment considerations.
  • Be able to evaluate and develop good corrugator PM practices.
  • Have a working understanding of steam systems and corrugator heat troubleshooting.
  • Have a working knowledge of corrugator adhesives and distribution systems.
  • Have a working knowledge of the mechanical systems associated with a corrugator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the quality control systems and the OEM machine control systems.
  • Visit PCA corrugator plants as required to support capital projects or improvement efforts.
  • Review Cause/Frequency/Downtime analytics.
  • Perform DT analysis and RCFA analysis to improve PM processes.
  • Provide feedback to the PM and AOM on the corrugator Team.
  • Evaluate productivity, reliability and capability issues and provide feedback.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience on corrugators.
  • Coaching, training, teambuilding and performance management experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Solid analytical, mechanical, and organizational skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance of corrugated and packaging equipment.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems including common software.


Skills:


Required: Strong interpersonal skills, able to easily relate to a line operator or the VP of the company.


Fully Qualified: Good written and oral communication skills


Highly Qualified: Ability to manage a diverse team of people to accomplish complex objectives.



Education:


Required: High School Diploma


Fully Qualified: Technical school, industry training, or special training (i.e. Six Sigma)


Highly Qualified: Undergraduate Degree or higher



Experience:


Required: A positive history of extensive industry experience in leadership and/or technical positions with a proven track record of technical acumen and leadership accomplishments.


Fully Qualified: Successful assignment as a box plant production manager.


Highly Qualified: Specific experience as a trainer that relates to the equipment, processes and needs of PCA.
