Job Description

Mizzou Advancement Communications and Marketing is dedicated to implementing a comprehensive, data-informed and collaborative communications and marketing strategy that supports the university's philanthropic and alumni relations goals. We are currently seeking a seasoned, creative and results-driven Creative Team Manager to join our team and lead an award-winning team responsible for developing compelling, high-impact projects that engage donors and alumni and inspire philanthropic support for Mizzou.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement Communications and Marketing, the Creative Team Manager will oversee the design and creative process, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope and aligned with strategic objectives. The role requires a thoughtful team leader who can provide clear creative direction, foster collaboration and maintain high standards for quality and consistency.

Working in partnership with the Communications Project Manager, you will manage team workload and timeline and guide creative strategy across multiple channels, including print, web social media and email. Success in this position requires exceptional design and writing skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities and proficiency with design tools. The successful candidate will:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a creative team of designers, writers and digital content professionals.
  • Oversee the development and execution of integrated communications projects from concept to completion.
  • Deliver clear, constructive feedback that ensures brand consistency and high-quality output while fostering a collaborative, inclusive and respectful team culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Project Manager to prioritize work, manage deadlines and ensure efficient workflows.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align communications with fundraising and engagement goals.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic insights to the Executive Director of Advancement Communications and Marketing on project status, creative strategy and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with members of the Advancement Communications and Marketing team to provide best-practice consultation to the Division of Advancement, university communications and marketing team members, and internal and external stakeholders to plan, deliver and evaluate creative and effective donor and alumni communications.
  • Exhibit a strong appreciation for and ability to articulate philanthropy's significance in achieving the mission and vision of the University of Missouri and the Mizzou Alumni Association.
Shift

M-F 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications or creative services, preferably as part of a creative agency or in-house communications team, including 2+ years of direct supervisory experience leading creative professionals.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, public relations or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional creative teams, including designers, writers, digital content producers and social media professionals.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $62,500-$70,000 Annually

Grade: GGS-011
