Job Overview

The senior systems engineer will participate in the development of risk management files, and traceability documentation for complex electro-mechanical software driven medical devices. The systems engineer will have a base knowledge of standards and be able to assess gaps and requirements to fill the identified gaps. The engineer will serve on Engineering and Core Teams to define design inputs, test strategies, and to make sure open items are identified.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

A list of the main responsibilities and percentage of time spent in each responsibility or group of responsibilities:



  • Develop Risk Management file (including but not limited to; FMEAs, Hazard Analyses, and other risk assessment tools) (35%)
  • Develop Traceability Documentation (20%)
  • Develop Design Input Documents (10%)
  • Work with cross-functional team members (e.g. Marketing, Service, and Clinical personnel) to translate user needs into system requirements. Lead engineering resources (Electrical, Mechanical, Software) in the decomposition of system requirements to derived requirements. (10%)
  • Work with internal and external resources to be able to meet project and product needs.(5%)
  • Develop and assist in development of engineering, verification and validation testing methods and protocols. (5%)
  • Guide other engineers in the use of systems engineering tools to support technical evaluation of R&D deliverables. (5%)
  • Ensure that development activities are compliant with internal development processes and regulatory requirements. (5%)
  • Update and provide status on Agile Jira pulse board, participate in team meetings (5%)



Minimum Requirements

BS in any Engineering discipline with experience applying systems-thinking concepts and



  • approaches to complex problems.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong organization, communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to effectively interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to generate DFMEAs for complex electro-mechanical software driven medical devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, system-thinking and technical skills.
  • Ability to be a key contributing member of cross-functional development teams.
  • Task oriented and driven to complete assignments on schedule.
  • Knowledge of Requirement management tools (such as Doors, CaliberRM)
  • Able to apply scientific/technical principles across cross functional needs.
  • Capable of meeting project dates and delivery needs.
  • Able to provide technical guidance to team members as well as other individuals from different teams.



The pay range for this position is a minimum of $115k and a maximum of $125k annually.

This is a "Defined Term" assignment that will last approximately 18 months or until project is complete. Defined Term employees areeligible for mostbenefits (including health insurance and paid time off) while on assignment.
