JOB OVERVIEW:

Blue Diamond Growers-the world's largest almond company and a cooperative owned by nearly 3,000 farming families-is seeking a Sustainability Marketing Manager to lead the integration of sustainability into global business strategies. This role will be responsible for positioning sustainable service offerings, driving demand, and accelerating growth across value-added ingredient sales. The successful candidate will champion Blue Diamond's sustainability story to create customer value and strengthen strategic relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides strategic marketing guidance by collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Corporate Communication, and Sustainability teams. Develops integrated sustainability marketing plans and oversees resource allocation across product categories and customer segments.
  • Partners with the commercial and sustainability teams to conduct customer and competitive analysis. Uses insights to inform strategic direction and tactical planning.
  • Coordinates cross-functional responses to customer sustainability surveys and related inquiries. Analyzes results to inform the development of future sustainability strategies. Builds and strengthens partnerships with customer sustainability teams to co-develop initiatives that align with mutual sustainability goals and drive shared business value.
  • Identifies opportunities supports execution of sustainability ratings and rankings to elevate Blue Diamond's visibility and reputation as a socially and environmentally responsible cooperative.
  • Works with internal stakeholders and external agencies to develop communication materials and promotional campaigns that support strategic accounts and drive customer engagement.
  • Leads the development of marketing and sales enablement tools for ingredient marketing and corporate communication. Provides training to multi-channel ingredient sales teams and increases awareness among customers and prospects.
  • Create marketing calendars structured around financial priorities and key results, with annual and multi-year strategic objectives.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in sustainability related customer-facing engagement and provides thought leadership on various platforms. Operates independently to identify challenges and solutions, while also mentoring team members and contributing to strategic initiatives.
  • This job description provides a core understanding of the role, candidates may be required to perform other related duties as well.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in marketing or related work experience, with at least 3 years experience within sustainability and/or environmental science
  • Knowledge of environmental science and practices related to agriculture
  • Functional capabilities in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written communication skills

Total minimum number of years of experience required in lieu of degree (if applicable)

  • 10 years of marketing and/or sustainability experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.)

  • Knowledge of almond cultural practices, marketing trends, tendencies and procedures.
  • Master's of Business Administration (MBA) degree
  • Business-to-business (B2B) customer experience
  • Familiarity with sustainability principles and concepts
  • Food or consumer products marketing experience
  • Experience commercializing sustainability products or solutions
  • Experience contributing to value proposition development
  • Public speaking experience
  • Graphic design skills
