This Position reports to:

Process Analytics Field Service and Trai

Your role and responsibilities:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines. Each day, you will deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid, but based out of Houston, TX. #LI-Hybrid

The role reports to the US Analytics Field Service Manager. As a Field Service Technician, you will operate, coordinate, and collaborate within the field service team to meet assigned objectives. Working within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing commissioning/start-up services, troubleshooting/repair services, and preventative maintenance on measurement and analytical equipment.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Provide knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy always.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties and accomplish effective warranty administration and conduct work activities in compliance with all safety policies.
  • Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability
  • Be responsible for hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive and unplanned maintenance of Measurement and Analytics products including but not limited to Gas Chromatograph Analyzers (GC), Continuous Gas Analyzers (CGAs), Laser Analyzers, Analyzer Network products, Reid Vapor Pressure Analyzers, FT-IR, and FT-NIR Analyzers.
  • Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, completing reports for customers, time sheets, and expense reports on a timely and thorough basis.
  • Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of company funds. Protect the company's capital investments by properly safeguarding and maintaining that equipment for which they are responsible.
  • Strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction in all transactions and relationships.

The Measurement & Analytics Division is among the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of smart instrumentation and analyzers, working at the heart of industrial digital transformation. The Measurement & Analytics Division's portfolio consists of analyzers measuring compositions of gases and liquids; instrumentation measuring process variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, and level; force measurement solutions measuring parameters such as flatness, thickness, and tension; and advanced digital solutions for device management, device health check and predictive maintenance. The Measurement & Analytics Division serves key industries such as oil and gas, chemical, water and wastewater, power, hydrogen, batteries, as well as the marine industry. The Division enables the optimization of industrial processes by providing and analyzing data collected from sensing and smart measurement devices. Parameters such as emission levels and production inputs are measured by providing 'before' and 'after' values, enabling efficient operations and environmental sustainability through measurement.

Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of engineering / field experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years of field service experience
  • Strong technical background with technical skills in startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive, and unplanned maintenance of products including but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, level meters and continuous water analyzers
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships, to work effectively with minimum supervision, demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, and be customer service oriented
  • Strong Computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required. Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $51,100 and $94,900 annually.
