STV is seeking an experienced communications expert in the Advisory Services Outreach & Engagement Strategies division. Outreach & Engagement Strategies is arapidly growing communications practice within STV. Collaborating across multiple teams and clients, the Director of Engagement takes a strategic approach to communications planning, converting ideas into touch points that connect. The position offers excellent potential for positive impact in the community as this individual would assist in effectively implementing engagement strategies across infrastructure programs.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor, a strategic thinker experienced in delivering robust, concurrent communications programs. In this role, we seek someone with an inherent sense of initiative and a genuine dedication to the work we deliver.

Within water, STV integrates planning, engineering, maintenance and management to create resilient infrastructure for water from all sources, including drinking water supplies, wastewater, stormwater and water reuse.

As part of the water leadership team, this position will contribute to advancing STV's national One Water strategy, which focuses on integrated service delivery across all aspects of the water lifecycle. STV creates holistic solutions for the complex challenges communities are facing in securing water resources, such as aging infrastructure, regulatory requirements, capacity improvements and facility expansions.

STV is at the forefront of helping communities reach the next generation of clean water. This position will support a national portfolio of clients, with the key sub-markets of potable water, storm water, wastewater, water resources, and water reuse.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide visionary leadership and mentorship within the team, inspiring innovation and maintaining high standards of excellence in design and communication.

  • Communicate project objectives and key messages, translating complex technical information into compelling visual narratives for communication to diverse audiences.

  • Collaborate with Water leadership in the development of client engagement work.

  • Lead strategy in the development of communications programs that engage with the public in an equitable and accessible manner.

  • Develop processes and procedures to guide communications delivery and enhance STV standards and industry best practices in the water space.

  • Stay abreast of regulatory and industry trends, integrating innovative approaches.

  • Develop and provide strategic guidance in the creation of high-level concepts to engage with the public in an equitable and accessible format.

  • Steer projects through conceptualization, development, and execution, with a focus on effectively supporting project goals and objectives in an innovative and engaging manner.

  • Serve as a national expert in the Water space, presenting in industry conferences, and researching, leading, and participating in thought leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Water utility experience or prior municipal consultant experience.

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience within communications, with increasing levels of responsibility, and specialized experience in the water industry.
