As a Senior Data Engineer in the Veterinary Software organization, you will serve as a leader for data modeling and development supporting commercial data analytics. As a data subject matter expert, you will help deliver reporting data solutions, designing architectures to capture, integrate, organize, centralize, and maintain data.

This is a unique opportunity to help build the foundation for IDEXX's reporting function-shaping how data is captured and leveraged across the organization. You'll be part of a highly collaborative and dynamic team with direct impact on the company's financial success. IDEXX is innovating in the animal health sector, introducing products and data capabilities that are standard in other life sciences but new to this space. Many of our customers' processes are dated, and this role offers the chance to modernize how they operate. The upside is significant: you'll help bring transformative solutions to market and unlock new value for IDEXX and its partners.

In this Role:

  • You will develop and maintain reporting platform technical architecture; focusing on the data foundation.

  • You will develop knowledge of IDEXX data systems and processes, recommending and developing new data sets for analysis.

  • You will collaborate with technology and management teams to define data standards, ensuring data is stored, consumed, integrated, and managed effectively across the organization.

  • You will ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and system performance through continuous monitoring and refinement.

  • You will ensure data interoperability across the reporting platform.

  • You will promote the concept of data integrity and strategic value across the organization.

  • You will collaborate across the engineering organization to develop strategies that align with VetSoft application development.

  • You will work with data source systems and target systems to identify data issues and data gaps.

  • You will work with IDEXX teams, contributing to the VetSoft metadata model, delivering standardization of data that has come from a range of different sources.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Data Architecture Expertise: Strong knowledge of designing and implementing scalable data models, schemas, and data pipelines.

  • Experience in quantitative analysis, problem solving,and data visualization.

  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or similar frameworks.

  • Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Expertise in cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake)

  • Expertise in relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases.

  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and best practices for data security and quality.

  • Experience with principles and practices related to cloud technologies.

  • Experience in SaaS environment.

  • Systems and/or software design.

  • Agile processes including Scrum, Kanban, and/or others.

  • 5+ years of experience working with big data and analytics

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
