Description

The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The candidate is expected to contribute to cutting-edge scholarship and training in the area of integrative neuroscience (IN). We are particularly interested in scholars with expertise in broadly defined developmental psychology and neuroscience, whose work lends itself to novel collaborative initiatives within the IN area, across other areas within the department (Clinical, Cognitive, Social & Health Psychology), and/or across different departments/schools (e.g., Neurobiology & Behavior, Psychiatry) of the University. Preference will be given to applicants who have a record of first-author publications in high-impact research outlets in their specialty, evidence of or potential for funding, and ability to teach and mentor students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition to Integrative Neuroscience, the Psychology Department at Stony Brook University comprises doctoral programs in Clinical Psychological Science, Cognitive Science, and Social and Health Psychology. Available resources include a recently upgraded research-dedicated 3 Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM Prisma MRI scanner at the Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN) Center, a PET/MRI scanner at the School of Medicine, and an animal vivarium in the Psychology Department. Additional resources include the Center for Understanding Biology Using Imaging (CUBIT); the Stony Brook University Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), the Center for Excellence in Alzheimer's Disease, Neuromodulation Center, and Center for Affective Neuroscience of Depression and Anxiety (CANDA); the Mind-Body Clinical Research Center; and the Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Center.
