Organizational Unit Overview |
Academic Affairs ("AA") is headed by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs who serves as the institution's Chief Academic Officer ("CAO") and is responsible for administering academic policies. AA is comprised of each of the university's colleges, schools, and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units, to include Learner Operations, Research, Innovation and Engagement, Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research, and Global Affairs. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECU's culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation.
Office of the Registrar
The primary purpose of the Office of the Registrar is to assist students with academic progress to meet their education goals, maintaining accurate, permanent, confidential records, and administering University policy and procedures. Through an emphasis on teamwork, problem solving, and planning, the Office of the Registrar's staff will provide courteous and timely service to our constituents. The Office of the Registrar continually automates processes and refines services to support University enrollment goals, registration, grading, graduation, and other academic services needed by current and former students. |
Job Duties |
Eligibility Certifications for all 450+ student-athletes - 50%
- Know and understand NCAA rules for academic eligibility
- Evaluate academic progress of each student-athlete per NCAA bylaws.
- Analyze student academic records and determine what must be done to maintain eligibility or regain eligibility throughout the student's academic career under their changing status.
- Evaluate changes to the academic record (grade changes, degree program changes, course substitutions/waivers, etc.) for each student-athlete and determine ramifications to their academic eligibility status.
- Coordinate with Student-Athlete Academic Services evaluate academic progress and eligibility of continuing student-athletes, addressing and resolving concerns, and developing strategies for success.
- Work with the Athletic Compliance Office, Undergraduate Admissions, and Student-Athlete Academic Services in the processing of transfer evaluations for prospective student-athletes.
- Coordinate with other departments on campus for evaluation of transfer credit.
- Academic Program Rate (APR) Assistance Review
- Complete academic information in NCAA Transfer Portal
- Update attendance information in Banner forms.
- Analyze Athletic Eligibility degree audits, transcripts, and other identified documents to determine academic eligibility status of student-athletes.
Identify and monitor student-athletes requirements and needs - 50%
* Identify student-athletes who need full evaluation at mid-year for certification.
* Identify and monitor Football student-athletes who need to pass 27 hours over the year to regain contests.
* Summer Required Activities Exception review for football and basketball.
* Review with Student-Athlete Academic Services proper procedures for generating Athletic Compliance documents every semester
* Prepare Academic Eligibility documents to be submitted to Athletic Compliance and
FAR for certification.
* Coordinate with Athletic Compliance, Student-Athlete Academic Services, and
FAR to schedule and lead certification meetings
* Monitor full-time enrollment status of each student-athlete and contact appropriate officials if this status changes.
* Provide training/instruction/answers to questions to Academic Coordinators concerning use of AE degree audit.
* Work with Degree Works Specialist to provide information to other schools/ institutions through WebX, conference calls, face-to-face meetings concerning the implementation of the Athletic Eligibility Audit.
