TEKsystems is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join a mission-critical IT team in Anchorage. This Direct Placement position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the reliability, performance, and scalability of our enterprise databases. Key Responsibilities As the DBA, you'll be the go-to expert for all things database-related, including: * Designing, implementing, and securing enterprise databases (Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server) * Monitoring and optimizing database performance and capacity * Automating routine tasks using PowerShell, PL/SQL, and T-SQL * Supporting application development and upgrades * Managing database backup, recovery, and disaster prevention strategies * Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors for troubleshooting and enhancements * Researching emerging technologies and recommending system improvements You'll work closely with: * IT Management & Staff: Sharing insights and driving database strategy * End Users: Providing support and ensuring seamless data access * Vendors & Consultants: Coordinating solutions and maintaining system integrity To be successful in this role, you'll need: * 5+ years of DBA experience in an enterprise environment * Including 2+ years with Oracle (recent version) * And 2+ years in database design or development * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, STEM, or related field * OR 4 additional years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree We're looking for someone with: * SQL skills (Oracle & SQL Server) * Strong database design and analysis capabilities * Experience with performance tuning and query optimization * Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, PL/SQL, T-SQL) * Familiarity with client/server application development * Excellent troubleshooting and incident response skills You'll be part of a team that powers Alaska-literally.
