Weichert Financial Services is hiring a Mortgage Advisor in Montgomery County Maryland. The Senior Mortgage Advisor is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans while managing a Mortgage Loan Originator Assistant (LOA) to support the loan production pipeline. This position combines expert-level advisory responsibilities ensuring superior client service experience, high loan unit and dollar volume production, targeted contribution margins, and highly collaborative production team coordination. The Senior Mortgage Advisor develops and maintains relationships with customers, supportive sales associates, focused agents, open house visitors, and referral partners.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Originates mortgage loans by proactively sourcing and converting leads from the Company's four sales channels: Supportive Agents, Focused Agents, Open House Visitors, and Referral Partners/Personal Sphere.
- Issues fully assessed pre-approvals based on comprehensive analysis of credit, income, assets, and property requirements.
- Conducts in-depth customer needs analysis to recommend optimal loan products and accurately quote interest rates and terms.
- Submits accurate and complete mortgage applications to support smooth underwriting and timely closings.
- Maintains regular communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the loan process.
- Partners with Branch Vice Presidents and Sales Associates to generate and convert prospect opportunities.
- Remains current on market conditions, investor guidelines, and regulatory changes affecting loan products.
- Ensures full compliance with all applicable federal/state laws, investor guidelines, and company policies.
- Utilizes CRM and lead management tools to log activities, update pipelines, and report performance.
- Supervises, coaches, trains, and mentors assigned LOA to support the loan origination process.
- Delegates specific responsibilities to the LOA including:
- Gathering initial documentation
- Communicating with borrowers regarding outstanding items
- Managing file progress through processing, underwriting, and closing
- Assisting with CRM updates and database organization
- Sets performance expectations, conducts regular check-ins, and provides performance feedback to the LOA.
- Ensures the LOA maintains compliance, professionalism, and customer service standards.
- Serves as a point of escalation and provides guidance for complex tasks and/or problem resolution and service recovery.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or another related field preferred
- Individual state loan originator license(s) required in applicable states
- NMLS registration required and must be maintained in good standing
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of residential mortgage origination experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Demonstrate financial success, meeting 25% in closed loan production in the prior calendar year
- Previous experience working with or managing loan support staff preferred
- Strong knowledge of investor guidelines, loan products, and qualifying criteria
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience coaching or supervising others
- High attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mortgage origination systems (e.g., Encompass, Blend, CRM platforms)
- Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
- Strong math skills including percentages, ratios, and amortization calculations
